Characters: Chapter 6-11

                                                           The Owl
     The Owl lives in the hollow of a very old tree.  He "...is the oldest animal in the woods- some say in the world." [pg.42]  The owl is knowledgeable and knows alot.  "In the daytime...the owl goes deep into the hollow and sleeps."  At dusk the animals go to him for advice about there problems, and hope he has a solution.  "His beak was curved and sharp..." [pg.51] and he had big yellow eyes.

Characters: Chapter 1-5

                                                           Mrs. Frisby
     Mrs. Frisby, the protagonist, is "...the head of a family of field mice..." [pg.3].  She "...was able through luck and hard work to keep her family...happy and well fed." [pg.4]  "Mrs. Frisby woke up early..." [pg.5] every morning and cares for her four children.  Mrs. Frisby has many problems she must overcome and she worries about them.  "...she is a widow..." [pg.4] her husband died only a summer ago. Her personality is kind, loving, caring, and very hardworking.

                                                             Timothy
     Timothy is the yongest son and "...the thinnest of..." [pg.10] Mrs. Frisby's children.  "He was narrow of the face; [and] his eyes were unusally bright..." [pg.10].  "He was, Mrs. Frisby knew, the smartest and the most thoughtful of her children." [pg.10]  Timothy had "...been known to think he was sick when he really was not." [pg.9]  One day at the end of Febuary Timothy really did get sick and he needed medicine fast.

                                                              Teresa
     Teresa is "the oldest..." [pg.7] of Mrs. Frisby's children.  She is a little authoritive but very caring. "They left Teresa at home to look after Timothy..." [pg.11] because she is mature and the most responsible.  Teresa loves her siblings and is willing to help them.

                                                               Martin
     Martin is the biggest of Mrs. Frisby's children.  He is "...a strong, quick mouse, dark-haired and handsome like his poor father." [pg.7]  He is obiedent and does as he is told. 

                                                              Cynthia
     Cynthia is the yongest of Mrs. Frisby's children.  She is "...a slim, pretty girl mouse, light haired, and, in fact a little light-headed as well, and over fond of dancing." [pg.8]  Timothy is very nice to his "scatterbrained sister Cynthia..." [pg.21].  While the others sometimes laughed at her when she constantly lost things or made mastakes.

                                                         Dragon the Cat
     Dragon is the Fitzgibbon's cat.  "Farmer Fitzgibbon's wife had given the name as a joke...But when he grew up it turned out to be an apt one." [pg.21]  "In color he was orange and white, with glaring yellow eyes..." [pg.21].  Dragon is very visous and he stalks the area around the Fitzgibbon's house.

                                                            Mr. Ages
     " Mr. Ages was a white mouse..." [pg.12].  He lives in a house that used to be part of a brick wall.  Mrs. Frisby thought he "...seemed very wise and very old..." [pg.16]. He is known to be a doctor.  "...Mr. Ages made the draughts and powders that could sometimes save the sick from dying." [pg.14]  He is very helpful and kind and he saved Timothy's life. 

                                                     Jeremy the Crow
     Jeremy is a young crow "...only a year old..." [pg.23].  He is naive, but very good with directions, and collects shinny things for a friend.  One day he picked up a piece of shinny string, it got tangled on his foot and he got "...tied to the fence..." [pg.22].  Mrs. Frisby untied him and he flew her home with "...his powerful black wings..." [pg.25].  He is nice, determined, thankful, and willing to return a favor.

                                                  
                                                     Paul Fitzgibbon
     Paul is fifteen years old.  His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgibbon.  Paul is "...a quiet, hardworking boy, rather clusmy in his movements  but strong and careful about his chores." [pg.34]


                                                    Billy Fitzgibbon
     Billy is twelve years old and alot noisier than his brother Paul.  His parents are also Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgibbon.  He has "...an annoying habit of skimming rocks across the grass at anything that moved."
[pg.34]  Mrs. Frisby is not fond of Billy.


                                                The Old Shrew Women
     "...a lady shrew, a tiny thing scarcely bigger than a penut, but with a wit as sharp as her teeth." [pg.30]  Mrs. Frisby had grown to like the old shrew women.  "She lived in a simple hole in the ground..." [pg.30].  The old shrew women was abservant and friendly.

Setting

     Robert C. O'brien's novel Mrs.Frisby and the Rats of Nimh takes place in Mr.Fitzgibbon's farm. His farm is home to Mrs.Frisby and her family. They live "in an underground house in the vegtable garden..." [pg.3]  and it is a struggle everyday  to survie.
